The home computer of the Missouri man accused of kidnapping two teenage boys contained child pornography, according to the New York Post.
Citing unnamed law-enforcement officials, the Post reported that it could lead to federal child-porn charges for Michael Devlin.
Devlin is awaiting arraignment on a kidnapping charge, but authorities have said more charges are likely.
His attorney refused to discuss details of the case today. He said he will enter a not guilty plea.
Daniel Weiss, senior analyst for media and sexuality at Focus on the Family Action, said research has shown pornography to be a common factor in sexual crimes.
"A 2005 report by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children revealed that 40 percent of those arrested for possession of child pornography possession had also sexually victimized children," he said. "If we take the safety of our children seriously, our society will need to take a hard look at all the factors contributing to the culture of child sexual abuse -- including teen fashion, pop culture and the proliferation of hardcore pornography. Once a culture tolerates treating adults as sexual commodities, it has little problem treating children the same way."
