Wisconsin Legislature to Debate Coerced-Abortion Measure

If pro-life Wisconsin lawmakers have their way, women seeking an abortion would have to sign a statement saying they have not been pressured into taking the action, the (Madison, Wis.) Capital Times reported.

A bill suggested by Wisconsin Right to Life -- the Coercive Abortion Prevention Act -- would require women to sign a statement at the end of the required 24-hour waiting period.

The new proposal would require doctors to inform women that it is against the law for them to be forced to have an abortion against their will.

The proposal faces a Democrat-led Assembly, which Wisconsin pro-lifers say is more supportive of abortion.
