The parents of a 5-year-old who received a book at school depicting a homosexual family cannot expect help from a federal court. The Associated Press reported Friday that a federal judge threw out the parents’ lawsuit claiming that the school violated their rights.
“Under the Constitution, public schools are entitled to teach anything that is reasonably related to the goals of preparing students to become engaged and productive citizens in our democracy," U.S. District Judge Mark Wolf wrote in his opinion.
Wolf said the parents, Toni and David Parker of Lexington, could file their lawsuit in state court.
