Ireland's government has told a Catholic pregnancy resource agency it will lose a million dollars unless it agrees to distribute information about abortion options, LifeSiteNews.com reported.
The agency originally agreed to offer leaflets that refer clients to foreign abortion clinics in order to avoid a loss of funding. But counselors with the agency objected to the requirement because the pamphlets contradicted Catholic teaching about the sanctity of life.
Agency head Bishop John Flemming said the doctrine commission is reviewing the matter and will weigh loss of funding versus principle.
