The number of abortions performed in West Virginia fell 14 percent after the Right to Know bill became law in 2003, LifeNews.com reported. The law requires abortion providers to educate abortion-minded women about the development of the preborn and the risks of abortion.
According to the state Health Department, from 2004 to 2006, the number of abortions fell from 1,945 to 1,674.
"We're glad to see the numbers dropping, but we have a lot more work to do," Melissa Adkins, executive director of West Virginians for Life, told The Associated Press. "Obviously, we don't want any abortions that are elective. One is too many."
