Clinton, Boxer Deny Plan to Silence Conservative Radio

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., told radio host John Ziegler on Thursday that he overheard Sen. Barbara Boxer of California and Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York hatching a plan to curb conservative talk radio.

But the two Democrats say the conversation never took place, and that "Senator Inhofe needs new glasses, or he needs to have his hearing checked," Boxer spokeswoman Natalie Ravitz told FOXNews.com today.

In an interview with Fox News this afternoon, Inhofe said the conversation took place three years ago, but he brings it up regularly in talking about market-driven media.

"I was going over to vote the other day, and I was walking with two very liberal gals that didn’t pay any attention to me being with them," Inhofe told Ziegler. "They said, 'We have got to do something about this, these are nothing but far-right-wing extremists. We’ve got to have a balance, there’s got to be a legislative fix to this.'"

"Jim Inhofe is wrong," Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines told Fox News. "This supposed conversation never happened, not in his presence or anywhere else."

Conservative talk radio has come under increasing attack by Democrats — and even some Republicans — for trying to influence public and political opinion on hot-button issues.
