The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) filed a motion Monday against the University of Wisconsin-Madison on behalf of the Roman Catholic Foundation, which has been denied recognition by the school.
In May, the university settled a lawsuit filed by ADF to recognize the group and allow it access to student activity fees — the same as other campus groups. When the school failed to honor the terms of the agreement, ADF filed a second lawsuit in September.
"The university seems to play a game of bait and switch when it comes to religious freedom on campus," ADF's David Hacker said. "All UW student groups, including those of a religious nature, are entitled to the same rights and privileges on campus. By denying those rights, university officials are continuing to break the law."
