More than 600 people gathered Saturday in Memphis, Tenn., at Focus on the Family’s Love Won Out conference, which addresses unwanted same-sex attraction with Christ’s truth and compassion.
Melissa Fryrear, director of the Gender Issues Department at Focus, said she was encouraged by the number of young people interested in Love Won Out’s message.
“Although today’s culture is so gay-affirming, many teens do not want to identify as gay or lesbian,” she said. “They are eager for other options, and that’s one of the conference’s purposes — to offer hope and help for those with unwanted same-sex attractions, to offer them alternatives other than living homosexually.”
Dr. Michael Brown, director of the Coalition of Conscience, joined the Love Won Out team for the first time to speak about the infringement of religious freedoms and how communities can counter pro-gay initiatives.
