The Family Research Council hosted a lecture today featuring David Blankenhorn, founder and president of The Institute for American Values and author of The Future of Marriage.
The book points out that altering marriage to accommodate same-sex couples will result in denying all children their birthright to a mother and a father.
“We shouldn’t be using marriage, using it instrumentally, twisting it around, redefining it … in order to support a goal that is not intrinsic to the nature of marriage,” Blankenship said.
“The purpose of marriage is to recruit one individual from the male side of the human equation and one individual from the female side, to have them form a sexual union and to have them be the social parents of the offspring.”
