Three Wisconsin college newspapers — the Marquette University Tribune, the UW-Stout Stoutonia and the UW-La Crosse Racquet — reportedly have rejected an advertisement promoting abstinence.
The ad, submitted by Pro-Life Wisconsin, reads: “Be good to yourself over spring break. Make smart choices the night before … that way you won’t have any emergencies to deal with the morning after!”
Pro-Life Wisconsin said the ads were rejected because of the papers’ liberal viewpoints. The group said Wisconsin colleges have promoted the morning-after pill to students in the past, urging them to prepare for spring break by stocking up on it.
William Thorn, chairman of the board for Marquette student media, claimed the ad could not be reviewed in the time allowed.
“This is censorship. It truly is,” said Peggy Hamill, state director of Pro-Life Wisconsin.
