Twelve federal jurors convicted a Hollywood pornography producer and actor Thursday for distributing obscene materials in the Tampa Bay, Fla., area, The Tampa Tribune reported.
After nearly 12 hours of deliberation, the jurors decided Paul Little’s films violated the community’s standards. Little and his company, Maxworld Entertainment, were convicted of 10 counts of selling obscene material over the Internet and 10 counts of shipping it. Each count could carry five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Daniel Weiss, senior analyst for media and sexuality at Focus on the Family Action, said he hopes to see more prosecutions involving more mainstream content.
“We see time and time again that when communities are allowed to set their standards, obscene content goes away,” he said. “This trial should embolden police officers and prosecutors to begin cracking down on illegal pornographic content.”
