Massachusetts Abortionist Charged With Manslaughter
Dr. Rapin Osathanondh, an abortionist in Cape Cod, Mass., was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday on manslaughter charges after 22-year-old Laura Hope Smith died during an abortion.
Prosecutors said Osathanondh failed to monitor Smith while she was under anesthesia, delayed resuscitation efforts and then lied about his actions.
Tammy Mosher, director of Concerned Women for America of Massachusetts, called it a breakthrough.
“It is saddening that this success comes at the expense of Laura's life,” she said. “I hope this will be a wake-up call to every woman and man.”
Osathanondh, who has said he will plead not guilty, resigned his medical license in February.
