Pro-life counseling centers across Oregon might be driven out of business if the state Legislature approves a bill backed by Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America.
The legislation would mandate that the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) collect information about the 51 “alternative-to-abortion organizations,” also known as Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs).
“The [bill] presumes that these PRCs are intentionally deceiving and misleading women into not having abortions so they are asumming guilt even before this investigated and discussed,” said Carrie Gordon Earll, senior analyst for bioethics for Focus on the Family Action.
Larry Gadbaugh with Pregnancy Resource Centers of Greater Portland said lawmakers would learn a lot if they visited his facilities.
“We’d love to show them what we do, show them the materials we provide for the education of women facing unplanned pregnancies,” Gadbaugh told Family News in Focus.
