Thank Lawmakers Who Voted Against the 'Hate-Crimes' Bill

Let them know you noticed how they voted.

The House of Representatives voted last Thursday in favor of "hate-crimes" legislation that would create a special, favored class for homosexuals and pave the way for limits on religious speech.

Dr. James C. Dobson, founder and chairman of Focus on the Family Action, said the backers of the bill are hoping people won't catch on that "the true intent of the legislation is not to punish what is already illegal. It is to muzzle people of faith who dare to express their moral and biblical concerns about homosexuality."

Ashley Horne, federal legislative analyst for Focus on the Family Action, explained why a simple thank you can have a big impact.

“Imagine if your boss always piled work on you, and then never said thank you for a job well done," she said. "Legislators need to hear thanks from their ‘bosses’ when they vote correctly, and particularly when they do so at political cost.

"I encourage our citizen activists to be as quick to thank their legislators after a good vote as they are to express their opinions on legislation.”
