Experts Tie Aggressive Behavior to Porn Use

'Men go from just consuming pornography to acting out.'

According to the Journal of Research in Personality, six in 10 men said they would force a woman to do something she did not want to do, and/or rape her, if they knew they wouldn’t get caught.

Patrick Trueman with the Alliance Defense Fund said the porn industry, which took in $13 billion last year, is to thank.

“What this statistic shows is that men will go from just consuming pornography on a regular basis to acting out," he said.

Mary Anne Layden, clinical psychologist at the University of Pennsylvania, said porn generates and reinforces lies about sexuality.

“These messages lead to permission-giving beliefs," she said, "for violence, sexual entitlement, that I should be able to have sex whenever I want, however I want, wherever I want, with whomever I want.”

Vickie Burress with VictimsOfPornography.org said the troubling numbers reinforce the need to battle the porn industry.

“It’s very real," she said. "It’s happening in our churches just as much as it’s happening in society.”
