Gay Activists Again Push Radio Hall of Fame to Dump Dr. Dobson

Homosexual activists have launched a new campaign demanding the Museum of Broadcast Communications reverse its plans to add Focus on the Family's Dr. James Dobson to the Radio Hall of Fame. Activist groups have pledged to protest the Nov. 8 awards ceremony if the museum does not withdraw Dr. Dobson's award.

Dr. Dobson's radio broadcast won the public vote in the Hall of Fame's “national active” category, beating out Bob Costas, Dr. Laura Schlessinger and Howard Stern. To qualify, a broadcaster must have contributed to the radio industry on a national level for at least 10 years.

“Our only criterion is the number of years in the business," Bruce DuMont, chairman of the hall of fame, told the Chicago Reader earlier this year. "He’s been broadcasting more than 15 years on more than 3,000 stations. He’s qualified.”

Carrie Gordon Earll, senior director of Issue Analysis at Focus on the Family Action, said the voters have spoken.

“Millions of Americans have benefited from the counsel, advice and contributions of Dr. James Dobson through many years," she said. "Their lives are enriched and better because of his radio broadcasts."
