U.S. Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., told Time magazine this week that he and as many as 39 other pro-life Democrats will oppose health-care reform that does not specifically exclude abortion coverage.
"We are going to do everything we can to stop the rule, or the bill, from coming to the floor," he said.
In July, Stupak was among 19 pro-life Democrats who wrote a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi stating they could not support any plan that included abortion.
Stupak said President Barack Obama's statements that abortion is not included show he doesn't understand the `House bill.
"If he is aware of it, and he is making these statements," he said, "then he is misleading people."
