Conference Focuses on Help for Sexual-Identity Confusion

Preventing and treating sexual-identity confusion in children is the focus of the National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) 18th annual conference.

The event will be held Nov. 20-22 in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Dr. George Rekers, one of the featured speakers, said research shows children, who are insecure in their gender identity, have a high risk for developing a homosexual attraction.  But, he adds, there is hope in dealing with the problem.

"It's much easier for the child if we can address gender disturbances in childhood," he said, "and actually prevent later development of homosexual attractions."
