About a thousand people gathered at the state Capitol today demanding that voters have a say on same-sex "marriage."The Iowa Supreme Court forced gay "marriage" on the state in April 2009.
Pastor Keith Ratliff encouraged the crowd.
"We want to vote on this marriage amendment," he said. "There are 67 percent of Iowans that believe that traditional marriage – that real marriage – that only marriage is between one man and one woman."
Chuck Hurley, president of the Iowa Family Policy Center, said he plans to put pressure on lawmakers.
"The next step in this saga would be for the Legislature to reaffirm the Defense of Marriage Act and say 'No thanks' to the Supreme Court's opinion," he said.
