There have always been elements within society that have wanted an anarchic, ungoverned social approach to sexual behavior. From the 1960s—the dawn of the "sexual revolution"—until the late 1990s, the sexual anarchists largely had their way in influencing society through legislation and education. Sexual anarchists controlled congressional purse strings for sex education funding. The results were disastrous.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 conveniently left out continued funding for Title V abstinence education. As Congress considers other bills that fund such programs, Congress needs to hear from teens, college students, parents and teachers who have seen abstinence training work. Please contact your state representatives and senators in Congress, and ask them to continue federal funding for effective, character-based abstinence education programs.
Planned Parenthood has been behind numerous efforts to introduce and pass so-called “medically accurate” sex education bills at the federal level and in many states—in some states where the bills have failed, they have been introduced again and again.
Even a brief glance at some school textbooks is sufficient to see that our children are sometimes misinformed. Textbooks are often grossly out-of-date due to school system budgets and printing cycles. Health education textbooks often contain medical inaccuracies due, in great part, to the speed of change in research. Science moves at lightning speed. Updated research is released daily.
