Tribal gambling has grown an average of 36.1 percent annually from 1988 through 2005. An estimated 562 federally recognized tribes operate about 420 casinos in 30 states. In 2005, tribal casinos accounted for 27 percent of all gambling revenues combined in the United States ($84.62 billion).
