Where can I get Help for Family or Friends Who are Addicted to Porn?

Probably the greatest help you can provide a person struggling with pornography is unconditional love, forgiveness, and patience.*  Such a person, whether man, woman, or child, often feels incredibly alone and has cultivated a life of shame and secrecy.  Deep, authentic relationships are necessary to bring that person out of himself and back into health.

However, porn use is often just the tip of the iceberg, if you will.  Underneath this destructive behavior is distorted thinking, damaged emotions,  and a wounded spirit stemming from incidents that may go back into childhood.  True healing and recovery won't merely stop the behavior but will address everything gone wrong underneath the surface of a person's life.  Although people may be reluctant to go to a professional counselor, it may be that the skills of a trained therapist specializing in this topic are necessary to get to the heart of all that brokenness.

To learn more about true recovery from sexual addiction and pornography, visit www.pureintimacy.org or call 1-800-A-FAMILY and ask to speak with a counselor.

*If you are dealing with a spouse addicted to pornography or immoral sexual behavior, seek advice about boundary setting and developing a self-respecting plan for your personal journey forward.
