80 Percent of Americans Believe Bible is Word of God

Nearly one-third of Americans believe the Bible is the word of God, to be taken literally. Another 47 percent believe the Scriptures to be the inspired word of God. That's according to a series of Gallup polls taken in May 2005, May 2006 and May 2007.

Americans' views on the Bible have not changed over the past 16 years, according to Gallup. The poll also found that the higher the level of education, the less likely an individual is to believe the Bible is the literal word of God. Just 11 percent of those with post-graduate degrees believe so.

As America slips further from its founding principles, Focus on the Family's Truth Project aims to equip Christians with a biblical worldview.

The Truth Project is a DVD-based small-group curriculum comprised of 12 one-hour lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett. Each lesson discusses the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life.

"The vision of The Truth Project, first and foremost, is that God will perform a deep transformation within the lives of those people who go through the study," Tackett said on the project's Web site.

"It's a transformation that will radically change the way they view the world, and the way they live their life."
