Kentucky Governor Pushes Vote on Gay Benefits

Gov. Ernie Fletcher has called a special legislative session to start on Aug. 13. He called a special session in June, but was forced to call another one when the House refused to vote on SB 5 — the bill that would stop universities from granting benefits to domestic partners.

On Aug. 13, there will be a Rally for Marriage at 2 p.m. at the Capitol.

Kent Ostrander, executive director of The Family Foundation, is asking Kentuckians to continue contacting their state representatives.

“We need everyone involved to get more phone calls to legislators,” Ostrander said, “and to bring as many people as possible to Frankfort on August 13 for our last stand of this year.”

TAKE ACTION
Call the toll-free legislative message line today at (800) 372-7181 and leave this message for your state representative: “Protect marriage – pass Senate Bill 5.”

While on the message line, ask the receptionist to “copy” your message to House leadership, including Reps. Jody Richards, Rocky Adkins, Rob Wilkey and Charlie Hoffman. The message line at the Capitol is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT.

If you don’t know who your representative is, the receptionist can help you.

Even if you’ve called before, please do so again.  House members need to hear from you on this issue.
