Exodus International, the world's largest outreach to those desiring freedom from homosexuality, is launching its second annual campaign to promote truth, authentic tolerance and safety in schools across America.
The Allies, Too campaign offers resources for students, teachers and youth leaders and was created as an alternative to the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network's (GLSEN) Ally Week.
"We hope most of all to bridge the gap between Christian and GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered) students that has been created by the promotion of false tolerance," said Mike Ensley, youth analyst for Exodus. "Our goal is to embolden and educate students to make a stand for real tolerance — treating each other with dignity and respect in the midst of debate."
GLSEN's Ally Week is this week; Allies, Too is Nov. 5-9.
"This (Allies, Too) campaign was prompted by the strong push in our nation's public schools for all students to identify themselves as gay-affirming 'allies,' " Ensley said. "Groups that promote homosexuality to youth have been dedicated to creating an atmosphere that offers only two choices: either be 'tolerant' and 'progressive' by celebrating homosexuality, or you'll be labeled a hateful homophobe.
"Allies, Too was created to embolden and empower Christian students to stand up for their beliefs and define their own voice, to show their love for others and commitment to making schools safe for everyone."
