Federal Abstinence Funding Safe for Another Year

More than $100 million in federal abstinence funding was preserved Tuesday when three conservative senators were able to convince Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., to drop an amendment that would have eliminated the funds due to discrepancies in the term "medical accuracy."

The three senators who intervened are: Republican Sens. Sam Brownback of Kansas, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and David Vitter of Louisiana.
