A disturbing "art" show is making its way to America's college campuses.
The so-called Sex Workers Art Show aims to portray prostitution and pornography as "innovative art." Prostitutes and pornographers are referred to as "artists" and “geniuses.”
The next stop is The College of William & Mary, where the student assembly reportedly has approved more than $1,400 in student activity funds to help fund the show.
President Gene Nichol said the offensive display will be allowed on campus because the First Amendment requires it. Matt Barber, policy director for cultural issues at Concerned Women for America, said this is about common sense, not censorship.
“This is a textbook instance where it’s appropriate to preclude a group like this from performing a live pornography sex show with prostitutes and porn stars," he said.
He called it a game of semantics, because prostitution and public nudity are illegal.
“To call them sex workers is just another attempt by the Left to desensitize people and to downplay the reality of what’s going on here," Barber said.
David Miller, vice president of Ohio's Citizens for Community Values, said colleges don’t have to be open to everything that tries to hide behind the First Amendment.
“If the KKK wanted to hold a rally, I think you could see a change in attitude as it relates to the First Amendment," he said. "Those college campuses are not totally open to anything-goes.”
