In an effort to convince researchers to use adult stem cells instead of life-destroying embryonic stem cells, those who have been helped by the ethical research are speaking out.
Dr. David Prentice, senior fellow for life sciences at the Family Research Council, brought the group together recently for a briefing in Washington, D.C.
"It was just very exciting to see these patients get up there and talk about how their lives were changed and, frankly, saved by adult stem-cell treatments,” he told Family News in Focus.
Prentice plans to publish a yearly update of adult stem-cell success stories, including Jill Rosen’s story. She had been in and out of the hospital for eight years until an adult stem-cell transplant three years ago.
“My entire life changed," she said. "I became incredibly healthy. My lupus is in remission, and I am completely healthy.”
