Take Action: Ask Lawmakers to Defend Tiny Humans

Life advocates will play an important role at House hearing on embryonic stem cells.

Embryonic stem-cell research will be the topic of discussion Thursday at a hearing in the U.S. House of Representatives. Lawmakers who support federal funding for unethical embryonic stem-cell research are behind the effort.

Rep. Frank Pallone, D-N.J., chairman of the Subcommittee on Health in the Energy and Commerce Committee, is spearheading “Stem Cell Science: The Foundation for Future Cures." Pallone supports destructive embryonic research.

Pro-family groups are calling on pro-life committee members to attend the hearing to defend young human life and highlight the success of adult stem-cell research, which does not require the destruction of embryos. More than 70 diseases and conditions are being treated with adult stem cells.

"Much like the recent witch-hunt hearing against abstinence education, this is just another example of liberals in Congress ignoring scientific evidence," said Ashley Horne, federal policy analyst for Focus on the Family Action. "Science has proven over and over that we need not kill human embryos for scientific experiments because ethical research continues to move forward and provide tangible therapies for patients."
