‘Today’ Show Suggests Tips for a 'Healthy Divorce'

On the Today show today, psychiatrist Gail Saltz gave viewers tips on "healthy divorces." She recommended treating divorce as a business deal and a business relationship. "Remain firm in your intent to go forward," she said.

Jenny Tyree, associate marriage analyst for Focus on the Family Action, said instead of steps to end a marriage, the Today show should focus on the overwhelming benefits of marriage and offer help for troubled marriages.

“The end of a marriage is a tragedy, not just a bit of unpleasantness at the end of a business partnership, as it was portrayed on the show,” she said.

“Research indicates that many divorcees wish they'd tried harder to keep their marriage together, and I think that our first instinct as a society should be to help couples toward that goal.”
