California Court Hears Home Schooling Case

Family advocates were in California's 2nd District Court of Appeal today, arguing that parents have a right to home-school their own children.

The court agreed to hear the case after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Attorney General Jerry Brown and home schooling advocacy groups challenged an earlier appeals court ruling that said parents must hold state teaching credentials to home-school their children, the San Jose Mercury-News reported.

Focus on the Family founder Dr. James Dobson called the ruling "an all-out assault" on parental rights — one that could have nationwide consequences.
