Good News: Court Upholds South Dakota's Informed-Consent Law

The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 7-4 Friday in favor of a South Dakota law that requires abortionists to inform women about the risks of abortion. The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) defended the Woman’s Right to Know law on behalf of the Family Research Council.

Jordan Lorence, senior counsel for ADF, said the decision will ensure women have access to the information they need and deserve.

“Anyone truly concerned about the interests of women supports making sure they have access to all the information necessary to make a fully informed decision,” he said. “Planned Parenthood, on the other hand, has argued adamantly to restrict the information women have about the lives of their preborn babies.”
