As part of its “rebranding campaign,” Planned Parenthood is going after an affluent, upscale clientele with suburban mega-clinics and posh health centers.
Two state-of-the-art centers have gone up recently in Aurora, Ill., and Denver; there are plans for at least five more.
“They are following the money, which they have done since the beginning," said Peggy Hartshorn, president of Heartbeat International.
She said if Americans knew the truth about Planned Parenthood, they would be spurred to action.
“I would bet the average Christian sitting in church or in Bible study has no idea that Planned Parenthood is the largest provider of abortion services in the United States," Hartshorn said. "Their budget is $1 billion a year, and a third of that comes from our tax dollars.”
Jenn Giroux, founder and president of Women Influencing the Nation, said Planned Parenthood knows its days are numbered and has to repeatedly reinvent itself.
“They are taking a woman, a young girl, at their most vulnerable moment and exploiting them," she said. "They tell them to be quiet when they are crying, they rush them to an abortion, and they (don't) follow up with them to see how they are doing.”
