SUMMARY:

The Family Research Council hosted a panel discussion Thursday on how the California Supreme Courtís ruling on same-sex ìmarriageî threatens First Amendment rights and religious liberties.

The panel, California Same-Sex "Marriage:" The Impact on Religious Liberty, featured legal and policy experts representing both sides of the marriage debate.

Benjamin Bull, chief counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, said radical homosexual activists will use same-sex ìmarriageî to diminish the rights of Christians.

"Churches (are) being forced or intimidated or threatened to perform same-sex 'marriages,' even though it violates the basic tenets of the Church," he said. "I believe that in time, any Christian organization - if they refuse to recognize same-sex 'marriage' - may lose their tax exemptions unless we reverse whatís happened in California."
