Good News: Arizona School Allows Distribution of Bible Study Fliers

An Arizona school will allow a church equal access to distribute fliers on campus, following a lawsuit by the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF).

Maricopa Unified School District officials had prevented First Baptist Church from distributing fliers for its AWANA Journey 24 Club, a weekly high school Bible study program, because of their religious content and viewpoint.

“We appreciate the school district’s decision to do the right thing,” ADF Legal Counsel Jeremy Tedesco said. “We look forward to a change in district policy that will make that good decision permanent so the free-speech rights of community members and groups will continue to be protected.”
