A $5 million school-choice program for disabled and foster children that was cut from Arizona's budget has been reinstated. The money, transferred from the Department of Education, will allow the nearly 400 students who used the program last year to continue attending private schools of their parents' choice.
"These children's educations at the schools their parents have chosen to best fit their needs will not be disrupted," said Cathi Herrod, president of the Center for Arizona Policy. "This is truly great news for the many students and parents who need this support."
The program is being challenged in court, but the state Supreme Court has said the program can continue this school year.
