Thank You, Dr. Dobson

Dr. James Dobson and the broadcast have helped me so much that I could not ignore the request for submitted stories. Back in the beginning years of Focus, I was a young homemaker with three small children. When my husband suddenly died – leaving me a widow and my children orphaned – there was many a night, after the children were settled in, that the radio broadcast was on in my kitchen, while doing up the evening's dishes. The wisdom, guidance, strong encouragement, and practical advice given caused me to feel that I was not alone in the task ahead of raising three children singly.

Many times, when I'd have questions, or even just feel like giving up, the friendly, warm voice of Dr. Dobson would be a welcome guest in my home, as if he and the radio announcers and his guests were personally taking the time to visit me, coming alongside to help.

Those years are far behind me now, with my oldest just turning 34 years old, but you can ask them what a difference in their lives has occurred thanks to the support I was given as a single mother desiring to raise Christian, stable, responsible, and giving children, and maintain a consistency in discipline and instruction that was beyond my own ability.

Thank you, Dr. Dobson, and Focus on the Family!
