The National Abstinence Education Association (NAEA) has launched a national campaign to educate parents about the harmful information their children are often exposed to in so-called “comprehensive” sex-education classes at school.
Parents can join the Parents for Truth Campaign — now offering free membership — to learn the difference between the two curriculum approaches, and how to promote abstinence-focused sex education in their children's schools.
NAEA Executive Director Valerie Huber said abstinence education is more important than ever.
"It has been thrust into the political debate as a key issue — among both candidates — with a lot of misinformation about what comprehensive sex ed is, about what abstinence education is," she said. "Parents need to know this, not only for what's going on in their own children's schools, but also so they can make informed decisions this November."
Parents for Truth aims to recruit 1 million parents over three years to fight groups like Planned Parenthood that are targeting children with dangerous and explicit sex-education curricula.
