San Francisco — which falls in the home district of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — is expecting hundreds of thousands of people at its 25th Folsom Street Fair this weekend.
It's being called a "true San Francisco original" and "the largest leather/fetish event in the world."
Jeff Johnston, gender issues analyst at Focus on the Family, called it something different.
"This event distorts and degrades sexuality, which is a gift from God," he said. "While citizens in California can’t stop private sinful and disturbed sexual practices, they can speak out against this public event.
"For the police to turn a blind eye to these illegal and indecent displays of depravity, and the city's elected officials to 'celebrate' this sort of public obscenity, is unconscionable."
