Immigration Legislation Undermines Federal Marriage Law

Focus on the Family has sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee expressing concerns about S.B. 424, which would grant special immigrant visas to same-sex partners of American citizens.

Jenny Tyree, marriage analyst at Focus on the Family Action, said the measure undermines marriage and has numerous other problems.

“Not only does this bill open up our immigration laws to potential abuse and fraud," she said, "but it also undermines our federal law, which says marriage is between a man and a woman.”

Tyree said it's time for our elected officials to stand up for marriage.

She said: “Marriage is something this country definitely depends on for a thriving next generation.”
