Dr. James Dobson, founder and chairman emeritus of Focus on the Family, has endorsed a Facebook group and would like to thank his loyal online fans.
Inspired by Dr. Dobson's impact on her life, Minnesota high-schooler Heather Ducharme created the group "James Dobson, fighter for the family." The group has nearly 3,000 fans.
“I hope to reach younger people my age and help them get involved in issues that I personally think are important," she said.
Last week, Heather and her mom, Danita, were thrilled to meet Dr. Dobson during a special visit to Focus on the Family.
“I was honored to meet him, and when he endorsed my group, I was very excited and honored again," she said.
In his endorsement letter, Dr. Dobson called Heather courageous and inspiring.
"Knowing that the next generation includes godly, passionate young people like Heather gives me great hope for the future of our nation," he wrote.
Gary Schneeberger, vice president of media and public relations at Focus on the Family, applauded Heather's strong stand for righteousness.
"Heather and her mother kept saying during their visit to Focus that it was such a pleasure to be here and meet so many of our team," he said. "The pleasure is really all ours. What a gifted and godly young woman Heather is.
"Taking a stand on Facebook the way she has goes far beyond honoring Dr. Dobson — it honors the Lord."
