Dr. James Dobson Keynote Speaker at Hodel Student Center Dedication

Barbara Hodel, wife of Don Hodel, former president and CEO of Focus on the Family, was honored Oct. 10 by Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Va.  A new student center was named for her.

Mrs. Hodel cut the ribbon at the opening of Patrick Henry College nearly 10 years ago and was on hand for the ceremony that paid tribute to her legacy.

Mike Farris, chancellor of Patrick Henry College, said Hodel has been an inspiration.

“We named a beautiful facility after Barbara because her exemplary spirit in facing difficulties,” he said.

Hodel was injured two years ago in a fall at her home in Colorado. She is mostly paralyzed from the neck down.  Dr. James Dobson, founder and chairman emeritus of Focus on the Family, spoke at the ceremony.

“Barbara, I love you more than you can possibly know,” he said, ”and Don has meant so much to me personally, and I thank you not just for what you have done, which is a lot, but for who your are.”
