Focus on the Family Action delivered tens of thousands of signatures to Capitol Hill last week, demanding that abortion be kept out of health-care reform.
But Ashley Horne, federal policy analyst for Focus Action, said the message was almost stopped at the door of the Cannon House Office Building by security. That would have kept nearly 150,000 petition signers from expressing their viewpoint to their lawmakers.
"We were outside the House buildings trying to decide what to do next and up walks Congressman Poe from Texas," she said. "Not knowing who we were and what we were doing there, he just happened to ask us if he could help us. So we contacted his office, and they helped us arrange to get inside the House buildings and we were able to deliver the petitions."
TAKE ACTION
Thank U.S. Rep. Ted Poe for upholding our petition-signers' First Amendment rights.
