Heritage Foundation Report Shows Post-Prop. 8 Harassment

With gay-marriage issues on the ballot in Maine and Washington, marriage supporters are faced with the real possibility that their names will be released to the public.

Petition-signers who fought to get Washington's Ref. 71 on the ballot are safe for now, pending a U.S. Supreme Court review of the case, but gay activists are also demanding the release of similar information in Maine.

A report from The Heritage Foundation details the suffering of supporters of one-man, one-woman marriage after Proposition 8 was passed last year in California.

Thomas Messner, visiting fellow with The Heritage Foundation, said vandalism, loss of employment and gross expressions of anti-religious bigotry were the order of the day.

"It's obvious what the purpose is," he said.  "It's to intimidate people."
