Report Describes Problem Gamblers

 

Surprising results of a study conducted by the Problem Gamblers Help Network of West Virginia show those who get addicted to gambling are most often middle-aged women.

Steve Burton, program director for the Problem Gamblers Help Network, said most gamblers use neighborhood slot machines and are trying to pay off gambling debts and bills with their winnings.

"They're also using the gambling," he said, "as a means of escape."
