Liberal Web Site Targets Conservative Giving

Media Matters for America, a liberal advocacy group, has launched a new Web site documenting the financial and political associations of conservative groups.

The Media Matters Action Network will track money given to conservative groups in order to help the progressive movement respond "to attacks from 'astroturf' organizations."

"Astroturf" is used by liberals to explain a grassroots movement that is planned and orchestrated by others.

Jason Mattera, media spokesman with Young America's Foundation, which is listed on the Media Matters Web site, said it's ironic that Media Matters would accuse conservatives of astroturfing.

"George Soros is the mother of all astroturfers," he said.  "He deeply funds many of these Left-wing organizations, including Media Matters and the Center for American Progress, run by John Podesta, closely tied to the Obama White House."
