Floridians Have Several Opportunities to Hear Abstinence Message

Silver Ring Thing will host three events in Florida during the next five days delivering the abstinence message of waiting until marriage.

The youth ministry's goal is to see a culture shift in the lives of young students.

The group uses concert-style events to promote the message of purity through comedy, drama and music.

Students receive silver rings as a symbol of their commitment to remain sexually pure until marriage.

Jason Burt, national director for the Silver Ring Thing, said the group stays true to biblical principles when delivering its message on sexuality.

"I see that sexuality, and confusion around it, and God's plan for healthy and mature expressions within the context of marriage," he said, "have been completely distorted by media and by pop culture, and by all the continual marketing of sex to all demographics, but especially to students."

The first Florida event will be at King's Way Christian Center in Cape Coral on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.
