Thousands March for Life in Washington, D.C.

Thousands of people descended upon Washington, D.C., to take stand up for the preborn in the annual March for Life event today.

One of the primary topics of today's march was keeping public funding of abortions out of health care.

Charmaine Yoest, president and CEO of Americans United for Life, said the large turnout sent a critical message.

"It's really important for our congressmen and our senators to know that the pro-life movement is out here and energized,” she said.

Event speakers included: Rep. Chris Smith, Rep. Steve King and March for Life founder Nellie Gray.

The march was first organized on Jan. 22, 1974, the one-year anniversary of Roe V. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion.
