Conservatives Seek a Younger Audience

Reaching out to "Millennials" will be a primary goal of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., next month.

This year's CPAC, Feb. 18-20, includes a side conference called XPAC that is geared toward people 16 to 30 years old. It will have different content, programming and exhibitors than CPAC.

This will be Focus on the Family Action's first time at the event. The group's two major presentations will be focused on outreach to Millennials.

Chris Leland, vice president of college student ministries with Focus on the Family, said the issues haven't changed, but conservative leaders need to change their language for the younger generation.

"It's learning the vernacular," he said, "learning how to couch the same issues with the same perspective in maybe a different language, a different use of words."

XPAC will include a lounge for entertainment and music, as well as networking opportunities.
