Ritter Rocky on Sanctity of Life Issues

Colorado’s new governor will be Democrat Bill Ritter. Ritter was projected the winner with 58 percent of the vote by Fox News. Ritter beat out Congressman Bob Beauprez.

Both candidates claim to oppose abortion but Ritter said he’d veto any bill that didn’t allow exceptions for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest. He also said he might consider abortion to be the right option in the case of severe fetal abnormalities.

Ritter plans to take action once in the governor’s house by reversing some of the exiting Governor Bill Owens’ initiatives.

“We must make a stronger commitment to family planning,” Ritter said on his Web site. “I will restore the funding to Planned Parenthood and other agencies that Gov. Owens cut by executive order.”

According to the Denver Post, Ritter “believes in evolution, supports stem-cell research and backs domestic partnership benefits for gays.”
